How to care for a carpet at home

Carpet flooring, which requires a special approach in terms of cleaning. If you choose the wrong solution, there is a risk of damage to the product. Therefore, you need to take care of him correctly.

Rules for caring for a carpet at home

With proper use, the product will last for many years. There are some rules that can help keep this coverage as long as possible:

  1. At the entrance to the room should put a rug (it will help remove dust from shoes).
  2. Vacuum the product once every 1-2 weeks.
  3. Wet cleaning should be done once a month.
  4. If a stain appears on the material, it should be removed immediately (while it is fresh). When dried, getting rid of it will become more difficult.

Vacuum Cleaner

More often than not, simple dirt from the street accumulates on the product. If there is too much of it, the product becomes like sandpaper, since a lot of dirt and dust has accumulated between the pile.

Such impurities can be removed using rotating nozzles of the vacuum cleaner. Brushes are ways to flatten the pile, and remove debris between it. Clean the product in this way more often.

Advice! To avoid the constant spread of dirt from the street, a rubber-based mat should be placed at the doorstep.

Dry clean

This method is very common, because it does not harm the coating and you do not need to wait until the latter dries. The cleaning method is as follows:

  1. Powder is applied to it.
  2. We are waiting for some time.
  3. Remove the mixture with a brush.
  4. We remove the remains with a vacuum cleaner.

Wet cleaning

Wet cleaning is more effective, but can damage the base of the product. For washing, detergents are used. There are several nuances of wet carpet cleaning:

  1. This method is not suitable for jute-based products.
  2. Wet cleaning is also contraindicated if the coating is made of natural fiber.
  3. Products made from synthetic elements dry faster. But even for them, frequent wet cleaning is not recommended, since water corrodes the fixing layer.
  4. Wet cleaning is done once a month.

How to remove stains from carpet

If you need to remove stains from such a coating, special means are used. When buying them, you must read the instructions.

For greasy stains, a solvent is suitable. We put it on a rag and just put it on the damaged place. Rubbing the surface is prohibited. The remaining dirt and solution are removed with a rag soaked in soapy water. Therefore, we wash off the soap with water and dry the coating.

Attention! Ordinary stains (such as tea) can be removed with a soap-based solution. And if you need to remove stains of wine, coffee or juice, vinegar is used.

How to eliminate odors

There are cleaning methods that will help not only to remove unpleasant odors, but also to give the coating freshness:

  1. Powder cleaning. It can be both dry and wet. The powder has a pleasant smell, and its active elements will help get rid of unpleasant.
  2. Detergents. Only wet cleaning is provided here. Detergent characteristics are very similar to powders.
  3. Soap solution. It is considered the best way, since it does not damage the basis of the material.
  4. Soda. It does not give the carpet a smell of freshness, but it can eliminate unpleasant odors.

Carpet Drying Rules

After cleaning, the coating must be dried. If this is not done, there is a risk of mold and bacteria. The carpet will have an unpleasant odor. You can dry the carpet as follows:

  1. With a hairdryer.
  2. Using a fan.
  3. On the street.

The first two methods are suitable if you need to dry the product as soon as possible, and the last is the best (allow moisture to evaporate on its own).
