DIY Oscilloscope

In translation, the oscilloscope means - Iā€™m swinging and writing. Any master repairing radio and electrical equipment will say that this device will be the main one on his desktop.

The device allows you to evaluate the main characteristics: voltage, current, frequency. In addition, it visualizes information in the form of a graph, which allows you to see any existing violations in the signal. For example, it may be the presence of interference or distortion of the waveform.

The graph is displayed in the form of a coordinate plane on which the X and Y axes are present. All signals that enter the device will be visible on this graph. They look like a familiar algebraic function.

With minimal knowledge in electronics, the oscilloscope can be manufactured independently. For example, you can make it from a computer monitor.

What is required:

  • Monitor;
  • Inverter and resistor;
  • Motherboard from the tablet;
  • USB connector;
  • HDMI wire
  • Wire 0.1 mm2 thick;
  • Button;
  • Scotch;
  • The first step is to dismantle the display cover;
  • In the case it is necessary to make a hole in which the button and the USB will be installed;
  • Existing HDMI connectors need to be unsoldered;
  • One end of the HDMI wire is soldered to the motherboard in the monitor, the other to the motherboard of the tablet;

IMPORTANT! Before soldering the board, you need to ring it with a multimeter. So the connection order will not be mixed up.

  • The USB and the power button are soldered from the tablet;
  • The cable is soldered to the power button and the USB connector;
  • Wires are attached to the device cover;
  • A jumper is installed between the GND and USB pins;
  • A resistor is installed. It needs to be mounted between the middle and negative contacts of the battery;
  • Using double-sided tape, you need to fix the inverter. The motherboard is also attached;
  • The monitor cover is back in place;
  • A computer mouse is connected to the USB connector, which is used to turn on the device;
  • The performance of the oscilloscope is checked;

If you do not have an unnecessary monitor at hand, you can take an LCD TV to make the oscilloscope.
